Hello, I am Sophie
Profession: project manager. A parent. An expatriate living in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually evolved into a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Netherlands wasn't in the long-term plan. Like many expat relocations, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far bigger.
The early months were overwhelming — unfamiliar systems, new routines, fresh expectations. Daily tasks seemed more complex than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and plenty of hands-on learning. Yet gradually, routines took shape. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt secure.
Why I Built Coast Line Oak Lily
Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was lacking was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site aims to fill that gap with practical guidance grounded in real life in Netherlands.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site IS:
- Hands-on insights from life in Netherlands
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever there is a real change
This site ISN'T:
- Not affiliated with tourism authorities
- Not a platform for paid reviews
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Netherlands goes on, and the learning journey continues. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep chronicling what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in Amsterdam or anywhere in Netherlands, feel free to get in touch.
Best regards,
Sophie
